History:

Assumption Home opened in 1963, through the efforts of the St. Boniface Parish, community organizations and concerned individuals. This support and involvement has assured the residents of a home-like atmosphere which continues as part of the Cold Spring community.

Philosophy:

All life is a gift from God; and every person is unique and his/her life is sacred. The provision of daily care revolves around the recognition and respect for the physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual needs and rights of all of our residents. Involvement of family in all care planning provides a natural continuity, as well as the opportunity for staff to respond to family needs.

Supporting the Needs of the Community:

Through the years, Assumption Home has adapted to changing needs. It currently has 80 nursing beds in service.

In 1973 the Home was remodeled, and in 1980, through a HUD development program, John Paul Apartments was built, which added 61 apartments and an enclosed walkway to Assumption Home.

Another expansion of Assumption Home from 68 to 80 beds, and renovation of all service areas was completed in 1984. This included the chapel, family room, craft room, four lounges and two dining rooms and a park for conducting many resident activities.

Once again an expansion in 2005 added Assumption Court, which provides 59 independent living apartments, indoor garages, a library and enclosed walkway to Assumption Home.

In 2008 we broke ground for two new nursing home units one of which will be designated a "special care unit", along with a complete remodeling of the the original 1963 nursing home.
